Day 1: Cusco - Km 82 - Piscacucho - Wayllabamba
06:00 - Meeting at Cusco Plaza de Armas
The tour starts early, with the meeting at Cusco Plaza de Armas, where our team of guides and porters will be waiting for you. After a brief briefing, you will board a comfortable transport that will take you to the starting point of the Inca Trail: Km 82, located approximately 2 hours from Cusco. During the journey, you will pass through stunning landscapes and learn more about the history of the Inca Empire, while approaching the famous Inca Trail.
08:30 - Start of the Inca Trail: Km 82 - Piscacucho
Upon reaching Km 82, you will begin your historic journey. The hike begins at an easy pace, with gentle trails, amidst cornfields and traditional villages. At the beginning of the trail, you will be graced with a view of the imposing Urubamba River on your left, which will be a constant companion throughout the journey, winding through the mountains.
10:00 - Arrival at Patallacta
Your first major stop will be Patallacta, an ancient Inca city, located in an area of great archaeological value. Your guide will explain about the stone structures and terraces that are part of an Inca agricultural complex. The history of this place dates back to the times of the greatness of the Empire, when the Inca Trail connected Cusco to Machu Picchu.
12:00 - Lunch in Wayllabamba
Lunch will be served in Wayllabamba, a small community that is also where you will spend your first night. Lunch is a gastronomic experience with local products and typical dishes from the Andes. You will be served in a trekking tent, enjoying Peruvian cuisine, with dishes such as quinoa, trout, fresh fruits and natural juices, while preparing for the next challenge.
13:30 - Continuing the Trek: Mountain Challenge
After lunch, the next challenge is a moderate climb to the campsite in Wayllabamba. Along the way, the scenery becomes more dramatic, with the weather changing as you climb. The vegetation-covered mountains and deep valleys are the backdrop as you approach the base of the trail.
17:00 - Arrival at Wayllabamba Camp
The first day of hiking comes to an end in Wayllabamba, where you will be met by porters who will set up camp for you. Here you can relax, have a hot drink and recharge your batteries for the second day of the journey. The camp is situated in a privileged location, with wonderful views of the surrounding mountains and a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for resting before the great challenge of the next day.
Dinner and Night in Wayllabamba
Dinner will be served around the campfire. Take the opportunity to socialize with other adventurers and warm up with a hot soup, Andean dishes and, if you wish, share your impressions of the day. The night will be peaceful, with the starry sky of the Andes as your companion. A moment to rest, replenish your batteries and prepare for the great challenge that awaits the next day.
Day 2: Wayllabamba - Abra de Warmiwañusca - Phuyupatamarca - Aguas Calientes
05:30 - Breakfast at the Camp
Wake up early for a hearty breakfast of fresh fruit, bread and coca tea, which will help your body adjust to the altitude. Prepare yourself for the greatest challenge of the Inca Trail: the climb to the Abra de Warmiwañusca (4,215 meters above sea level), the highest point of the trail.
06:30 - Climbing Challenge: Abra de Warmiwañusca
The hike begins with a steep climb that will challenge your physique and endurance. However, the effort will be rewarded by the stunning views from the top, where the sun rises over the imposing mountains. Upon reaching the Abra de Warmiwañusca, you will be treated to a spectacular view of the Urubamba Valley and the surrounding mountains. This is one of the most iconic moments of the Inca Trail, and the feeling of accomplishment is indescribable.
09:30 - Descent to the Runkurakay Valley
After the climb, you begin the descent to the next point of interest, Runkurakay, an ancient Inca rest station that offers panoramic views and a sense of connection to the empire. The site is an archaeological site where you can explore the ruins and hear about their function as a lookout and resting place for travelers who followed the trail.
11:00 - Arrival at Phuyupatamarca
After the descent, the hike continues to Phuyupatamarca, one of the best preserved ruins on the Inca Trail. This archaeological site, also known as the “City of the Clouds,” is famous for its stunning views and well-preserved Inca architecture. The site offers incredible views of the city of Machu Picchu, which is now closer, and marks the end of the trail before continuing on to the last stage.
12:30 - Lunch at Wiñay Wayna
Lunch will be served at Wiñay Wayna, an ancient Inca city located on a terrace with stunning views of the Urubamba Valley. This is a peaceful location and a perfect resting point before finishing the trek. Wiñay Wayna is also one of the most beautiful and preserved sites along the Inca Trail, with stone buildings and agricultural terraces.
14:30 - Arrival at Machu Picchu and Final View
From Wiñay Wayna, the last part of the journey will take you to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where you will have the first panoramic view of Machu Picchu, one of the new seven wonders of the world. This moment is a remarkable experience for all adventurers, with your heart racing and your eyes admiring the majestic Inca citadel below.
16:00 - Arrival in Aguas Calientes and Return
After arriving in Machu Picchu and having enjoyed a guided tour of the archaeological site, you will be transferred to the village of Aguas Calientes, where you can relax in a comfortable hotel, take a hot bath and celebrate your achievement. If you wish, you can also take the opportunity to visit the hot springs of Aguas Calientes.
18:00 - Return to Cusco
You will return to Cusco by train or combined transport, depending on your choice and availability. The end of an epic tour, full of history, challenges, adventure and an indescribable feeling of accomplishment.
