First Stop – Uros Floating Islands (09:00)

The first stop will be at the Uros Floating Islands, one of the greatest cultural heritage sites in Peru. This group of artificial islands is inhabited by the descendants of the Uros, an ancient people who have lived in the Titicaca region for over a thousand years. The inhabitants continue to build their homes and islands with totora, a plant that grows abundantly in the lake. During the visit, you will have the opportunity to learn about the customs, traditions and incredible ability to rebuild these islands, which float due to the lightness of the totora.

The guide, bilingual in Spanish and English, will share stories about the origins and challenges faced by the Uros people, who preserve their traditions in an impressive way. It is a moment to understand the resilience and adaptation of a people who live in harmony with nature and their ancient roots.

Heading to Taquile – 10:30

After visiting the Floating Islands, we will head to Taquile Island, known for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage. The trip takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes by boat, and during the journey, you will be able to admire the unique beauty of the waters of Lake Titicaca and the panoramic views of the islands in the distance.

Upon arrival, you will be able to observe the simple and authentic way of life of its inhabitants, known for their textile skills – both men and women practice weaving in a unique way, with techniques passed down from generation to generation.

Here, the guide will take us on a cultural tour, explaining the importance of the island in pre-Columbian history and the Inca Empire. You will learn about local customs, the use of alpaca wool to make clothes and how weaving represents not only a craft tradition, but also a form of language and symbolic communication.

Typical Lunch – 1:00 PM

At lunchtime, you will be taken to a local restaurant, where you will be served a typical Andean lunch, using fresh ingredients from the region. The menu includes dishes such as Titicaca trout, quinoa, Andean potatoes and chuño, a traditional dish made from dried potatoes. Lunch will be a true immersion in the flavors of the local culture.
